Thanksgiving...1979. Poem based on the bitter-sweet memories of a troubled time with a troubled son.

My Thanksgiving Prayer...1979
Happy Thanksgiving. May your blessings be abundant.

I thank you Lord, though all's not well
My boy is safe there in his cell
And I thank you God, you were there once more
When with gun in hand he walked in that store
For you were there within his heart
And though he acted out his part
I thank you Lord, no one was hurt
As his drug addiction did it's work

I ask you now, to take his hand
And help him, please, to understand
That he must accept what is to be
Give him the strength he'll need, I plea
For at times your Son was tempted, too
And might have failed, if not for you
I thank you, God, that in all this strife
My precious son still has his life
a falling leaf
Yes, I thank you Lord, though all's not well
My boy is safe there in his cell

Holiday Greetings. May your Thanksgiving Day be blessed with good food, good friends, and good times.

My Thanksgiving Prayer...1999
Thanksgiving dinner... turkey, dressing, and all the trimmings. Ummm, Ummmm.
As we sit at this table without you
I remember the joy you've brought me
I remember my darling first baby
The little boy that you used to be
In my minds eye now I can see you
Arms outreached with the flowers you'd bring
So proud to give to your mommy
The first dandelions of spring  ;-)

a falling leaf

Time's passed and we've crossed many bridges
Child of mine, I pray you can see
Though the life that you live's not my choosing
You'll always be special to me
As we sit at this table...without you
More than miles keep us apart
In my minds eye, I see your face smiling
And we're together...here in my heart.

I'm thinking of you today.
I'm thinking of you...:-)

Love Can Build A Bridge
Naomi and Wynonna Judd

I'd gladly walk across the desert
with no shoes upon my feet
To share with you the last bite
of bread I had to eat

I would swim out to save you
In your sea of broken dreams
When all your hopes are sinking
Let me show you what love means

Love can build a bridge
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don't you think it's time

I would whisper love so loudly
Every heart would understand
That love and only love
Can join the tribes of man

I would give my heart's desires
So that you might see
The first step is to realize
That it all begins with you and me

When we stand together
It's our finest hour
We can do anything, anything
If we keep believing in the power

Love can build a bridge
Between your heat and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don't you think it's time
Don't you think it's time.

May your day be filled with love...Happy Thanksgiving
